Eye Candy!

Posting your work on the net has its obvious drawbacks. Especially for photographers whose work can easily be skimmed with a simple right click or print screen. Just ask Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir . Allegedly, an online gallery sold prints of her work without her knowledge and made thousands of pounds off it– a scuffle that even includes an apology from Flickr. It is a pain in the ass how artists can protect their work, of which watermarking seems to be a solution, but not a very good one. At least not all things have gone sour for Rebekka– posting her images on Flickr did bag this self-taught photographer a deal with Toyota. Loads of excellent self-portraits on her site. Woman definitely has oomph in front of and behind the camera.

Another candymaker is pro photog Jan von Holleben, whose “Dreams of Flying” series is just so charming. Playful, imaginative pics that certainly beats the stiff studio photo sessions of yesteryears; oh, memories of itchy ruffles dresses and matching bad haircuts.
